So...
After just over 1 1/2 years of leaving the entertainment business for a "real job," a friend and I recently discovered that there may be something of a great opportunity for us to be a part of music history. We sit along Ventura Blvd in Los Angeles at a nearby Starbucks and throw around ideas for increasing the exposure of one of his rising stars: a young man he is managing under his Keynote Management banner named Venice Maki who has just released an album nationwide titled Which Way Is Out?. He mentions blogging...as he had days earlier, just before he, Venice and I sat in his office and packed 524 padded envelopes with Venice's new single release "Taking Time." He seems to beleive that blogging has the potential to reach the masses in ways email, advertising and airplay can't....almost combined, it seems! But the immediate successes of Venice's album and related activities seem to be preventing him from finding the time to make blogging a part of the tools being used to promote Venice.
So I ask him if he'd like for me to handle it. It seems easy to get someone to get out on the net and...well, write. How hard can it be, right? Researching the art of blogging suggested to me that not only could "someone" do it...."anyone can do it!"
And so, here I am! I'm doing the blog! I figure that the best way to understand blogging...the best way to make a blog work for us...the best way to prove my friend right is to plant and grow the blog myself. This very website -- Blogger.com -- seems to agree with my thinking! Of course, I'm hoping that I will ulitmately find that "someone" who can help us maintain a blog that really brings Venice to the listening world, but until then....
